Phishing was bad enough when the 'Nigerian Prince' attacks filled email boxes. But the COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant work-from-home (WFH) trend ramped up phishing attacks to far greater levels than in past years and prey on a fear besieging the world.
Forrester Research reported a more than 600% increase in phishing attacks that coincided with the 2020 debut of COVID-19 and relocation of employees to WFH status. Millions of virus-related attacks occurred each day, many of them successful, as workers grasped for data on the impending pandemic.
